Warranty scam warning

BC Auto dealers are out with a warning about a scam that’s surfaced in Fort St. John.

It’s got nothing to do with Christmas, but rather offers new vehicular warranties.

As part of the scam, sales people, who have been claiming to work for companies such as WorldWide Warranty Inc., and Warranty Centre, have been calling residences at random, and claiming their vehicular warranty is about to expire.

The fraudsters then offer a new or extended warranty, which can be purchased over the phone, with a simple credit card transaction.

For those with caller display, the prefixes have been appearing as 732, 203, and 603 – but you’re encouraged to check your documentation, and be wary whenever asked for any financial information over the phone.
