Fort St. John Council will hold another strategic planning and finance committee meeting Monday about property assessments.
The meeting will begin at 2pm and the public is welcome to attend as Scott Sitter from the Peace River office of BC Assessments will make a presentation about the 2009 property assessment roll freeze. In November Premier Campbell announced that the government would freeze property assessments at 2007 levels to help people cope with turbulent housing prices.
In the past week residents should have started to receive property assessments for 2009. The notices will list a property’s market value, for both July 2008 and July 2007, with the lower of the two values being used as the official number for 2009.
