A group of snowmobilers were caught in the avalanche and reported the incident at 2:17pm Sunday.  The avalanche occured approximately 25kms from the vehicles of the snowmobilers.  One snowmobiler was caught in the avalanche and is believed to be dead.  All the other snowmobilers have been accounted for.

The BC Coroners Service, Search and Rescue and an avalanche technician have been called to the scene.  There will be no further attempts to retrieve the deceased until the avalanche technician had deemed the area as safe.  No further information will be released about the deceased until the identity can be confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

Again the RCMP would like to remind the public that every precaution should be taken when operating snowmobiles.  Please do not operate snowmobiles in any areas where avalanches are likey or may possibly occur.
