Provided it went ahead as scheduled yesterday, we should have results later today, of this year’s first monthly sale, of oil and gas rights in Northeastern BC.
It was anticipated to be a small one, offering only 18 parcels, or less than one third of those offered last month.
They covered less than 12 thousand hectares and, only about one-fifth of the total involved, in the December sale.
Given last month’s sale was the first one, with bonus bids totalling less than 100 million dollars, since last May, yesterday’s sale will likely have little overall impact, on the fiscal year total.
January is the tenth month of the fiscal year but, it is already into record territory, with a nine month total of two point three billion dollars.
The 2008 calendar year total, also a record, was two point six-six billion.
