The RCMP have now confirmed that one person is presumed dead following an avalanche near Chetwynd, BC.

Very few details are available at this time, but the RCMP will be releasing more information shortly.  The search for the person that is presumed dead has been called off until Monday morning.  The avalanche happened near Hasler Flats just west of Chetwynd.

This is the second avalanche that has occured today in BC, another occurred earler today near Sicamous.

These two faitalities bring the total avalanche deaths to 12 this winter in British Columbia.
