Pipeline construction expected in Groundbirch area

Map:  This map from TransCanada shows the location of the proposed pipeline

TransCanada is proposing to construct an 85 kilometer pipeline in the Groundbirch area.

Community Relations Consultant Brenda Walton and Project Manager Sandeep Mann presented the project to the Board of Directors yesterday.

Director Hadland is concerned some landowners will be blind-sighted when the pipeline crosses their property.

He recommends training the representatives of the company before they come to the landowner’s door.

Mann says TransCanada’s buyers have a code to follow.

The project will transport sweet natural gas to a tie-in point in Alberta. Construction is expected to begin in 2010.
