Premier Campbell focuses on 'wood first'

BC’s premier says the ailing forest sector still holds the key to the province’s economy.

Gordon Campbell was on hand in Prince George today, for the opening of the Northern BC economic summit.

The main focus of Campbell’s remarks today surrounded the lumber industry, as he promoted his new ‘wood first’ strategy, which he expects will boost the local economy.

As far as the upcoming provincial budget goes, Campbell doesn’t expect immediate tax cuts, as his government already made cuts in October.

He adds, his government has to be mindful of the balance between stimulating the economy, and maintaining services like heath care and education.
