The Pimm’s Production Atom Flyers (9 yr olds) travelled to Chetwynd over the weekend to take part in their Atom “B” tournament.  The Flyers finished round robin play with 2 wins and a tie to secure a spot in the 1st / 2nd final.  The Flyers played Dawson Creek Coop Petroleum Atoms in the final game on Sunday but lost and came home with the 2nd place trophy.  Game results are as follows:
Game #1
The Pimm’s Production Atom Flyers played the host team Chetwynd Flames on Friday night.  The Flyers played a strong 60 minutes of hockey and came out on top with a 7 – 3 win.  Jacob Lang led the way with 3 goals and 4 assists, with Spencer Graham and Aaron Kosinsky getting a goal and an assist each, Adam Bowie and Spencer Zazulak with a goal each, and Teagan McMullen adding an assist.
Game #2
On Saturday morning, the Atom Flyers played Smokey River.  Once again, the Flyers played strong and defeated the Smokey River team 6 – 3.  Lang scored twice followed by Thomas Pope, Damin Kraeleman, and Bowie getting a goal and an assist each, Tanner Sandberg with a goal, and Trey Hipkiss, Kosinsky, Zazulak, and McMullen all getting assists.
Game #3
Saturday afternoon, the Flyers finished off the round robin play against the Grande Prairie Rebels. The Flyers battled back from a 3 – 1 deficit to tie the game with 9:57 left in the third.  The game ended in a 3 – 3 tie.  Pope scored twice assisted by McMullen both times, and Kosinsky netted the tying goal with an assist from Lang.
Game #4 – 1st / 2nd Final
Sunday afternoon, the Flyers faced the undefeated Dawson Creek Atom Canucks in the championship game.  The Canucks scored twice early in the first and led 2-0 after 20 minutes.  The Canucks added 4 more unanswered goals in the second to take a commanding 6 – 0 lead going into the third.  McMullen put the Flyers on the board in the third period.  Regulation time expired with the Flyers losing 6 – 1 and having to settle for 2nd Place.  Jessie McArthur backed up the Flyers all weekend in net.
