Chowade OGC permit denial – correction

As a follow up to energeticcity.ca’s story, published Friday Feb. 6th, entitled "Halfway River First Nation celebrates OGC denial", the BC Oil and Gas Commission has informed us that 22% of all permit applications are denied.

Our apologies for the error.

Full story:

The Halfway River First Nation has a lot to celebrate about today.

The Oil and Gas Commission denied the Hunt Oil Company of Canada of an exploratory well permit in the Chowade Valley.

OCG commissioner Alex Ferguson issued his written reasons on January 20, explaining he agreed with the First Nation that the land is sacred and special to the Chowade people.

***This is the first time the OGC denied an exploratory well permit.***

Halfway River First Nation is an adherent to Treaty No. 8, a vast treaty that covers all of north-eastern British Columbia.
