Knights of Columbus AA Bantam Flyers compete in Dawson Creek tournament.
The Flyers started the tournament with a win against the Dawson Creek Canucks on Thursday evening.  Cayle Bell scored at 13:21 in the first period assisted by Jade McMullen.  Logan Daneluk added another goal in the second period with  Pharyn Lancaster assisting.  Dallas Trim added a goal at 17:51 in the third assisted by Sam Aitken and Tyler Cresswell.  Blair Karasiuk contributed the winning goal at 6:30 in the third period ending the game 4-3 in favour of  the Flyers.  He was assisted by Shane Rutherford.  The win gave the Knights of Columbus seven games where they have been undefeated.   Good goal tending by Turner Gullickson turned away 30 out of 33 shots on the Flyers net.  Stats:  33 shots on our goal and 32 on the Canucks.  Penalty kill was 3/3 and 1/7 on the power play.
The Knights struggled against the Quesnel Thunder, in the second game on Saturday,  losing 6-1.  The lone goal for Fort St. John was scored by Jade McMullin at 7:26 in the first period, assisted by Logan Daneluk and Shane Rutherford.  Goalie, Daimon Derouin was peppered with shots as the opposition outshot the Flyers 39 to 16.
With only an hour between games the Flyers had a difficult challenge against the well rested Grande Prairie Chiefs.  Defenseman, Shane Rutherford scored at 10:41 in the first period, assisted by Jordan Harder.  Cayle Bell scored in the third period giving Fort St. John two points.  The Chiefs outshot the Flyers and gained 4 points to win the game  4-2.
The Flyers displayed their potential in the final game against the Prince George Cougars on Sunday.  Fort St. John was a driving force as they controlled most of the play outshooting the Cougars 33-29.  Blair Karasiuk scored at 16:36 in the second period, assisted by  Daneluk.  The elusive Jade McMullen added another point with assistance from Shane Rutherford.  Penalties worked against the Knights in the third period, helping the opposition gain two points on penalty plays.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Knights of Columbus AA Bantam Flyers play in Grande Prairie on Saturday, February 7th at 4:15 pm. in the Coke South arena and again on Sunday, February 8th at 1:00pm in the Canada Games arena.
