Mineral exploration activity in Northeastern BC reached a 3 year high in 2008.

A total of 10 projects generated $22 million for residents in the area. The government claims that a number of initiatives helped to create the record investment, including the RuralBC Secretariat, that helps communities diversify local economies.

The government also announced in 2008, that the Mining Flow-Through Share Tax Credit would continue until the end of 2009.
