Recession or not it would appear it is full speed ahead, with the Horn River pipeline project, of Calgary based TransCanada Corporation.
The company has announced today, the successful completion of shipper commitments, securing support for firm transporation of 378 million cubic feet per day, connecting new shale gas supply in the Horn River basin, north of Fort Nelson, to its Alberta System.
The approximately 340 million dollar pipeline will run, about 155 kilometers and, it is expected to be operational, in the second quarter of 2011. TransCanada says it is also encouraged, by the strong commercial support it has received, for developing shale gas reserves, in the Montney formation…and, it has recently concluded a successful binding open season, for gas transmission service, from the Groundbirch area, west of Dawson Creek.
A proposed 250 million dollar pipeline in that area, would be about 78 kilometers in length and…subject to regulatory approvals…is expected to commence service, in the fourth quarter of next year. Both pipeline projects are subject to the outcome of TransCanada’s existing application, to the National Energy Board, to have the aforementioned Alberta System, federally regulated.
The NEB recently announced it would issue its decision on that application, today.
