Students raise $30,000 for El Salvador trip

The North Peace Secondary School is 30 thousand dollars closer to going to El Salvador this summer.

The money was raised through the Esperanza Dinner and Dance on Saturday. Money was collected through ticket sales, a live auction including an auction for some of the student’s services like yard work, as well as a silent auction.

Spokesperson Ashley Beerling says the past week has been full of surprises.

Over 52 students in two groups will be traveling to El Salvador to help build a school.

She says the entire fundraising efforts have been successful.

Beerling hopes the two groups can finish building the school before they return home.
