Pat Ferris won a cold and nasty Baldonnel Roubaix race, Sunday. He had a time of 55:33 minutes for the 22 km gravel, snow, ice and pavement loop at an average speed of 24 km/per hour. Dean Lowry had an excellent 2nd place with a 58:51 and Barb Polehoykie third at 59:08.
The 2008 winner Bob Andrews was 4th at 1:00:19, Gord ‘The Hammer’ Harris 5th at 1:03:07 and Cam Chiorando 6th at 1:14:28.
It was a cold -21 degree start, even by Blizzard Bike Club standards. Pat Ferris pulled away from the group at the 5 km mark. A broken shifter cable doomed Bob Andrews’ chances to go with the break. The hill scattered the riders who were glad to get back to warm vehicles, afterwards.
Coming up next Sunday: Frozen John Roubaix, which is race #2 in the three race series, starts at 2 pm from the tracks on the West Bypass road. It is hilly and tough with possibly warmer temperatures.
