Local students advance to Canada-Wide Science Fair

Five local students will be packing their bags and heading to Winnipeg after winning the Regional District Science Fair on Tuesday.

Tanielle Johnson, Kimmie Gulevich, Dylan Kaissan, Colson Fellers and Todd Aalus were chosen to advance to the Canada-Wide Science Fair. The trip is for nine days with all expenses paid.

Over 300 students displayed their projects at the North Peace Secondary School on Tuesday afternoon.

Guest speaker Superintendent of School District 60 Larry Espe was on hand to help hand out awards.

The event was sponsored by businesses like Encana, Sci-Tech North and BC Hydro. Overall, $25,000 was generated from all sponsors.

One contestant from the Canada-Wide Science Fair will be chosen to compete in the International Science Fair in Las Vegas.
