UPDATE: Producers are looking for the Encana Bomber to come forward; they are in need of explosive expertise for the production of the film.

Big news for the Energetic City – Universal Pictures will be in town later this month to begin preparations on the production of the first feature-film to be entirely shot and set in Fort St. John.

The film, Speed 3, will be a followup to the mega successful Speed I and Speed II films of the 1990’s. Early indications are the film will feature several death defying driving stunts, common to everyday Fort St. John drivers such as maneuvering a welding truck through town while dodging pedestrians, and cutting other people off in the Tim Horton’s drive through.

The film will also feature big-rigs, snowmobiles and quads doing their best to de-activate bombs on board. Rumors are circulating that the producers will be looking for several Fort St. John drivers to participate. Apparently, producers are also interested in using the Fort Hotel property as a movie set, and are in discussions to blow the rest of what is left of the building up.

Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, Sandra Bullock are expected to be coming to Fort St. John for the filming.
