A full week after it began, the search continues for a Grande Prairie man who was swept away after trying to drive his ATV through a river.

The Grande Prairie RCMP reports G.P. Mounties, along with personel from Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue, focused their search on the Wapiti River on the weekend.

23 year-old Jason Giesbrecht, of Grande Prairie, went missing after he attempted to drive a side by side sport recreational utility vehicle (SRUV) through the Wapiti River, near the Riverview Pines subdivision, on the evening of Monday May 4th.  The current soon overcame their vehicle, and the female passenger was able to escape before the vehicle rolled, and swim to shore.   Mr. Geisbrecht has not been seen since.
