Accessibility Awareness Day on Friday

More than ten people wheeled around town on Friday afternoon, to bring awareness to accessibility issues within the City.

Members of the local media, and Councilor Bruce Christensen wheeled down 100th Street, then east on 93rd Avenue and up 96th street by the Enerplex.

Participants agreed that the worst areas in the City are where the sidewalk meets the road. In some places, there are a couple of inches between the pavement and the sidewalk. This makes it hard for wheelchairs to get onto the sidewalk.

Following the event, organizer Lori Slater says she hopes the event brought awareness to the problem areas in town, as well as the better areas.
