Canada Post is delaying the opening date for a temporary Charlie Lake Post Office.
The Crown Corporation says difficulties in securing land for the site have forced a postponement of the opening date from Wednesday May 27, to Friday June 5th.
In the meantime, Charlie Lake residents can continue to pick up their mail at the Fort St. John Post Office.
"We’re really optimistic that (June 5th) is going to be the date" says Canada Post Spokesperson Lillian Au. "We really apoligize for the time it’s taken" She says, adding "It’s been quite a challenge to find a secure location and get a temporary post office ready."
Canada Post has been trying to secure a new location for Charlie Lake mail since the original Post Office, housed in the Charlie Lake store, was destroyed by fire on May 5th.
