Cecil Lake Fire is now contained

The Cecil Lake fire has now been contained by Forest Fire Fighters.

The blaze started Monday morning at around 10am and crews have been there all night fighting the fire.  The fire has grown to 40 hectares in size, but is 100 percent contained.  Crews will spend the day today working to suppress the fire.

The cause is still under investigation but the Prince George Fire Centre has confirmed that the fire was caused by humans.  Both homes near the fire have been protected at this time.

As for the other fires in the region, the Charlie Lake Fire has also been contained and caused by humans.

The only fire still out of control is the Peterson Crossing Fire near the Milligan Creek Road.  This fire was also caused by human activity, but an official cause is still being investigated.  There are 15 fire fighters and 2 helicopters working the fire.  The fire is approximately 60 hectares in size and 25km north of Cecil Lake.

We will have more on this fire as details become available.  If you have any photos of any Forest Fires in the region e-mail [email protected]
