Fort St. John's Murray GM spared from GMC cuts

Fort St. John’s Murray GM can breathe a sigh of relief today.

Murray GM received its letter from GMC, stating the dealership will remain open.

General Manager Clark Lang says he is very relieved at the news, but is worried about the fate of the two dealerships in Dawson Creek.

However, the Edmonton Journal is reporting that Brown’s Chevrolet in Dawson Creek will remain open. General Manager Aaron Powell told the Edmonton Journal that, "Everyone is a little bit worried; you never really know." He also said, "We’re happy. They let us know we’re in good standing."

The General Manager for Timberline Pontiac Buick GMC has yet to return Moose FM’s phone calls.

Meanwhile, Grande Prairie Herald-Tribune is reporting that G.P. was spared from the cuts, and that both dealerships will remain open.

More than 250 cuts are expected throughout Canada. GM Canada’s parent company in the United States, General Motors Corp., announced last week that it was eliminating 1,100 of its 6,000 dealerships in the US.

General Motors did not make the cuts public, stating the dealerships are associated with other parties and operators, and leaving it up to the parent company to break the news.
