Grande Prairie man still missing

A 23 year old Grande Prarie man is still missing, after he was last seen in the Wapiti River.

Jason Giesbrecht was operating a side by side sport recreational utility vehicle with a female passenger when they attempted to cross the Wapiti River.

After entering the water, the strength of the current reportedly took control, and both driver and passenger exited the vehicle into the water before the vehicle rolled.

The 25 year old female passenger safely swam to shore, but the male has not been seen since. The female was taken to a local hospital and subsequently released.

Giesbrecht was last seen on Monday May 4th around 7:45 p.m. Technical Search and Rescue teams from Grande Prairie, Grande Cache and Valleyview continue the search today along with local police and RCMP Air Services Helicopter.

Further updates will be provided when available.
