The value of Fort St. John building permits issued in April was nearly six times, what it was the previous month but, on a year-over-year basis, the gap widened even further.

Fifteen April permits this year were valued at just under $1.9 million. That was much better than the eight permits valued at $320,000 in March…but it’s only about one third of the value of the 28 permits, issued in April of last year, which totalled more than $5.5 million.

It was a similar story in terms of city revenue from the permits, which dropped to less than $19,000 this year, following close to $60,000 in April of 2008.

In addition, this year’s four month, total value of construction is just over $3 million…and, only about 10 percent of the more $32 million recorded, during the same period last year.
