A new guide is being distributed around the area, to promote health services in the area.

The Community Health Guide is a comprehensive information tool, which details the various services within the Peace-Liard region.

Phone numbers and websites are listed in the free guide, which range from home support services to mental health care. Save Our Northern Seniors spearheaded the project.

Spokesperson Margaret Little says the committee wanted to make information readily available for the community.

Around ten thousand copies will be distributed throughout Peace-Liard.

The original plan was develop a guide which detailed services throughout the Northern Health Region, but Little says it would have been too much to tackle.

The guide has been in the works for a while now, and members of SONS had to deal with a few obstacles along the way.

However, Jean Leahy, also from Save Our Northern Seniors, says she has learned a lot through this process.

The guides will be distributed throughout the region, to places like hospitals and health units.

Leahy says if anyone notices that places have been left out of the guide, to contact SONS. She says those changes will be made in the second printing.
