The Charlie Lake Store is on fire

The Charlie Lake Store is on fire.

Fire Crews from both Charlie Lake and Fort St. John are on scene fighting the fire.  The fire started around 4:40am Tuesday morning.  The fire has been contained to the second floor and the kitchen area.  The fire started in the kitchen area.  There is only water and some smoke damage to the store itself.

The cause is unknown at this time.  There were 2 people staying the in living quarters and two workers just starting to arrive for work, they got out okay.

Crews have used foam and water to help put out the fire.  The foam was used as a quicker and easier way to put out the fire.

With the fire right next door, the Charlie Lake School will be closed today because of the smoke in the area.  School District 60 has done this as a precaution only.

The fire is not causing any traffic delays in the area.  The Frontage road in front of the store and down to the Charlie Lake School is closed.
