A close call for area boaters after accident Sunday

Sunday afternoon a 44 year old woman was trapped under water following a boating accident.

On Sunday June 14th, Fort Nelson RCMP were notified by the Ambulance Service of a boating accident on Redfern Lake approximately 75kms west of Buckinghorse.  Initial reports were that a boat had capsized on the lake trapping the 44 year old female under water.

The rest of the woman’s boating party managed to pull her lifeless body from the water and immediately started CPR.  The woman was revived at the scene and was able to greet ambulance personnel as they landed at the scene by helicopter.

The woman accompanied ambulance personnel back to Fort St. John Hospital where she was taken to the Emergency Department and admitted for overnight observation and then released the next morning.
