Cody Kalb MVP at Huskies awards

Cody Kalb put his stamp on the Kalb family tradition, taking three major awards at the Fort St. John Huskies year-end Awards and Banquet on Friday night.

Kalb was named the regular season MVP, as well as co-playoff MVP, along with goaltender Zack Blain. He also won the team scoring title for the second season in a row (something his older brother Jeff had also done).

Other award winners include Dan Pappin, who earned a tribute for outstanding leadership and dedication, something coach Bob Kalb implied would earn him the Captain’s ‘C’ next season.

This year’s Captain, Jon Spence, was named best defenceman for the second year in a row, splitting the award with Payden Wongstedt.

Kole Norris earned rookie of the year honours, while Steven Fast took the most gentlemanly player award.

As voted by the fans, Dylan Apsassin was named most popular player, and Kole Norris was voted most exciting player.

Among the legion of Huskies volunteers, Kathy Wolsey earned the president’s award, in particular for her hard work on the Fill the Bus campaign.

Jon Spence and Jordan Hartnell were also honoured as ‘graduating Huskies’, having reached the end of their junior eligibility.
