Community Awards Gala set for Wednesday

More than 50 residents were nominated, but only 25 will take home an award.

The Fort St. John Civic & Community Awards Gala awards will be held this Wednesday.

Organizer Karin Carlson says residents and businesses need to get recognized for their contribution to the City.

The event is a red-carpet themed event at the Pomeroy Hotel. Guest performers include featured artist Dayna Manning and pianist Naomi Shore.

In addition to the awards, Mayor Bruce Lantz will be recognizing several people with the Mayor’s Award of Excellence.

The Gala was originally supposed to be held in April, but was re-scheduled to allow for more nominations to be submitted.

Carlson says she can’t believe the event has finally arrived.

Tickets are 50 dollars each, and are available at the Visitor’s Information Center. Members of the public are invited to attend, and will be treated to Cocktails and dinner.
