Fort St. John Fire Crews were called to two separate fires Thursday night.

The first call came around 9pm of a fire at the lookout. When crews arrived they discovered a vehicle had been lit on fire and the fire had spread to the grass in the surrounding area. Its believed the vehicle had been there for a while. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly with minimal damage.

The RCMP believe the fire was intentionally set and are asking for the publics help.  If you have any information on the first fire call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The second call came just after crews returned to the fire hall. The call was for a pile of railroad ties that were lit on fire near Northern Lights College. The pile of railroad ties is located on the East Bypass road just beyond the walking trail and railroad. Again crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The Fort St. John Fire Department will be calling CN Rail to make sure they remove the old railroad ties as they believe they have been left sitting there for over a year.
