Local day-camp needs your help

A day-camp that has been running for 17 consecutive summers might have to cut some corners to remain operating.

Fort St. John Summer Activities Program Manager Lana Mitchell says she and the other operation managers are taking pay cuts to maintain the level of programs and field trips for the kids.

The camp, for kids between ages six and twelve, can accommodate up to 65 kids per week. Mitchell says funding is down about ten thousand dollars this year compared to previous years.

She says organizers are looking for sponsorships to make up that shortfall.

As well, she’s hoping local businesses will help send underprivileged kids to the camp.
