The Prince George Fire Centre says the Prophet River wildfire is now 75 per cent contained.
The lightning-caused blaze remains at an estimated 329 hectares in size, one week after its discovery. 19 firefighters and 2 helicopters are currently battling the fire, and sprinklers have been set up to protect a cabin in the area.
Elsewhere, the 230 square kilometre fire at the junction of the Smith and Liard rivers is still only 35 per cent contained. According to the P.G. Fire Centre; “the remainder of this fire in under modified response, meaning it will be allowed to burn within set policy and management guidelines and will continue to be monitored.”
And, the 80 square kilometre Tyaughton Lake wilfdire is now 100 per cent contained, and on the verge of being upgraded to ‘under control’.
