Shaw cable services disrupted

Those who get their internet from Shaw Communications may have to wait a little longer to get their service back.

Shaw has confirmed both television and internet signals in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, and other Peace region communities have been interrupted, after a fibre-optic cable serving the region was severed on Tueday morning.

Shaw Vice-president of Operations Steve Baker says the problem has at least been identified. [asset|aid=1525|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=1b59cbb9ea8da56a0d2aabad291f5917-Baker-lineCut_1_Pub.mp3]

Baker says it’s tough to determine how long the outage will last for, though as of 3pm on Tuesday, he was optimistic service could return this evening. [asset|aid=1526|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=1b59cbb9ea8da56a0d2aabad291f5917-Baker-timeline_1_Pub.mp3]

Service has been out since around 11:30 Tuesday morning.

Update:  Service was restored at around 9:30pm Tuesday.
