Two northern fires continue to burn

Damp weather and extra crews have helped to get one northern fire under control.

Fire Information Officer Jillian Chimko says the most northern fire, which is 50 kilometres north-west from the larger Smith/Liard fire, is 100 per cent contained.

The fire was discovered on June 1st. It is currently sitting at around 230 square kilometres in size.

The Ontario crews that were helping control the fires have since returned home.

Now, Chimko says crews have the Prophet River Fire pretty much contained.
