Wind farm proposed near Tumbler Ridge

Another wind farm is being proposed in the Peace Region.

Rupert Peace Power Corp., Public Affairs Director Mark Grant says the project is in its early stages.

He and Environmental Consultant Garry Hamilton presented the proposed plan to the Peace River Regional District on Thursday.

However, an environmental assessment still needs to be conducted. Hamilton says that is scheduled for the fall, and should take a year to complete.

Meanwhile, Grant says the wind sector is booming in the Peace.

If all goes as planned, the company will be constructing 50 to 100 wind turbines in the area.
