Controlled burns are being conducted south of Fort St. John.

The Fort St. John Fire Department responded to two calls yesterday, from concerned residents in the area.

However, Fire Chief Fred Burrows says the burns are being conducted to burn off old land clearing piles, near the Old Fort Road. There will be more controlled burns in the upcoming days.

Meanwhile, winds were causing some problems with trees close to Hydro Lines on Wednesday night. Burrows says some branches were catching on fire on 110th Avenue. He says crews attended the scene for around 20 minutes.
