Fake Amber Alert being sent via Text Message

A text message is currently being circulated in Fort St. John and around the province stating that an Amber Alert is in affect for a 3 year old taken by a man driving a silver truck and giving the licence plate details.

RCMP in Bonnyville, Alberta are reporting on the bogus Amber Alert.  RCMP said they’ve taken several calls today over an Amber Alert claiming a three-year-old child had just been abducted.

The RCMP have said there’s been no such abduction, the licence plate number does not exist, and Amber Alerts are never issued via text message.

Official amber alert messages contain all the necessary information pertaining to the child abduction including where the alert originated, contact information for the investigating law enforcement agency, child description, vehicle and a suspect.

Here is what the TXT Message says:  "Fwd:  Amber alert 3 yr old girl taken by a man driving a new silver truck plate 72B381 Keep it going so they can find her."
