A 42 year old male is in custody after firing a rifle in the direction of two summer students, in McLeod Lake.
On July 29th, the RCMP’s Operational Command Centre in Prince George received a 9-1-1 call from someone who witnessed the incident.
The caller reported that the male emerged from a residence and fired the rifle in the vicinity of two summer students hired to complete landscaping in the community.
Several bullets hit the student’s equipment, just a few feet from where they were working. The male then re-entered the residence.
Police from the Mackenzie Detachment contained the area. The North District Response Team along with trained police negotiators, the Police Dog Service, the RCMP’s Air 4 helicopter, a police boat from the Mackenzie Detachment and a boat from the Conservation Officer Service of BC were all called in to assist.
Police say they tried to speak with the male, but it was unsuccessful. The Emergency Response Team entered the residence and took the man into custody.
His name will not be released until he appears in court later this week.
