Blue bags not accepted for solid waste collection

The City of Fort St. John is asking residents not to place any solid waste into clear, blue plastic bags.

That’s because the Eco-Depot requires customers to put recycling into the same coloured bag. The bags are placed at the curb for the company to pick up, and there has been confusion about what is garbage and what is recycling.

So, the City’s solid waste collection contractor, Waste Management, will no longer collect clear blue plastic bags placed curbside for any reason.

The blue bags will only be picked up by the Eco Depot.
