A historic lumber yard and Catholic Church, are the victims of a fire in Sexsmith, Alberta on Wednesday night.

Crews arrived at the scene at around 7pm, far too late to save the 80 year-old Frontier lumber yard building or the 93 year-old church, but in time to save a nearby Mechanic’s shop.

The fire also destroyed one of the fire department’s three pumper trucks, which had been parked inside the lumber yard at the time of the fire.
