Major Power Outage in Dawson Creek

**Update – Power was restored at approximately 4:20pm.  BC Hydro now says the outage was caused by a windstorm in the area.

Over 1500 customers in the Dawson Creek and South Peace are in the middle of a power outage.

The largest power outage covers over 1400 customers and stretches from the 210 road north of Dawson Creek to the Alberta/BC Border.  The outage covers the communities of Dawson Creek, Pouce Coupe and Tomslake.  At the moment BC Hydro says the outage was caused by equipment failure.

Some people in that region lost power at 6:30am and might not see it restored until 5:30pm Sunday.  For more updates on the power outage in that region visit www.bchydro.com/outages
