One person is dead after an accident on the 256 road

On Thursday August 13th at 12:06am the RCMP were called to a collision on the 256 road.

The RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on the 256 road near the intersection of the Rose Prairie road north of Fort St. John.  An east bound Ford pickup truck left the roadway rolling over several times and came to a rest in an adjacent field.

The driver, a 62 year old male resident of Montney, and the lone occupant, was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Next of kin have been notified, however the name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Fort St. John RCMP and the BC Coroner Service.  Speed and failure to wear a seat belt appear to be contributing factors in this fatal collision.  Alcohol has not been ruled out at this time.
