Peace River Regional District Electoral Area ‘D’ Director Wayne Hiebert announced Friday
that he had the privilege to present a cheque in the amount of $1,090,750 to Pacific Northern Gas (PNG) for Area ‘D’s” contribution to the Tomslake Rural Gasification project.
PNG is starting construction on a $3 million rural gasification project that will initially service some 250 rural customers along the Highway 2 corridor between south Pouce Coupe and the BC-Alberta border. Construction will start the week of August 10th on the 140 kilometres of natural gas pipeline and will take 4 – 6 months to complete.
This project is only possible through partnerships between PNG, Encana, the Peace River Regional District Fair Share fund and local consumers. PNG will be purchasing natural gas from Encana for distribution to local consumers. PNG, with the oversight of the BC Utilities Commission, will build and operate the gas delivery system.
This rural gasification project is the largest new natural gas distribution system to be built in
BC in a long time.
