The Fort Nelson RCMP are reporting a serious accident happened early Saturday morning on Highway 77.

On August 1st at about 2:46am, the Fort Nelson RCMP were called to a serious motor vehicle accident approximately 16km north on Highway 77.  The Fort Nelson RCMP arrived on scene and administered first aid to the lone female occupant of the vehicle until Emergency Medical Services and Fire Rescue attended.

The female driver was extracted from the vehicle and taken to Fort Nelson General Hospital.  The 39 year old driver has since been airlifted to the University of Alberta Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The female’s name is not being released pending notification of family members.  At this time no further details are available.
