Enerplex soft-opening approaches

With the Enerplex’s Soft Opening just two days away (on Wednesday 16th), Fort St. John residents will be eager to see what the new building has to offer.

With the entire area not yet set for public access, Fort St. John City Manager Dianne Hunter is asking people to park their vehicles in the designated areas. [asset|aid=1857|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=fea11dfae0562ac6e1126cc0e40a623a-Hunter 1_4_Pub.mp3]

Now, only the first floor will be available for viewing on Wednesday, because construction is continuing on the second floor.  The two N-H-L sized rinks are on the first floor, and those are only available to groups or teams that pre-booked the ice.

First up, some local speed skaters, who will hit the ice at 6:30 in the morning, for some short-track practice.  Public skating should be phased-in later in October.

Hunter says the second and third floor should be up and running in November. [asset|aid=1858|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=fea11dfae0562ac6e1126cc0e40a623a-Hunter 2_2_Pub.mp3]

Hunter says the phased-in approach gives the contractor time to focus on specific areas that need extra work on the first floor.

The Grand Opening is set for November 27th.

For full coverage on the Enerplex, listen to Issues and Answers on Wednesday morning.
