Police identify body found in Wapiti River last week

Photo: The Grande Prairie RCMP has identified the body found in the Wapiti River on Thursday as Laurie "mouse" Wyley – submitted by the Grande Prairie RCMP.

 

The Grande Prairie RCMP detachment has identified the body found in the Wapiti River last Thursday.

The body is identified as 46 year old Laurie "mouse" Wyley (also known as Laurie Descheneaux) from Grande Prairie.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in what officers are calling a “suspicious” death.

Anyone who saw or had contact with Laurie between Wednesday September 16th and Thursday September 17th are asked to contact the local detachment. If anyone saw anything unusual from O’Brien Provincial Park to approximately 12 east of the pulp and paper mill, or may have been camping along the river near the mill area, are encouraged to call.

Police continue their investigation through a variety of resources including local detachment officers, Technical Search and Rescue, Police Dog Service, Forensic Identification Section, Major Crimes and RCMP Air Services.
