Record Temperatures Wednesday

High temperature records for September 23rd were shattered yesterday, in cities across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Fort St. John was among them, with a high of 26.4 degrees, breaking the the previous September 23rd record of 25 set in 1975.

Lytton, B.C. tied with Drumheller, Alberta, as the Canadian hot spots with maximum temperatures of 34.6 degrees. Vancouver posted a new high of 27.8, Edmonton was scorching hot at 33.5 and Saskatoon along with much of Saskatchewan was hovering around 32 Celsius.

The ridge of high pressure responsible caused record breaking temperatures at 36 weather stations across across the four provinces, stretching from Vancouver to Gimli, Manitoba.

However, cooler local temperatures are now in the seven day forecast, with a predicted high today in Fort St. John of only 16 degrees and only single digits highs forecast for Monday and Tuesday of next week.
