The City of Fort St. John…a finalist in the 10,001 to 20,000 population category this year, in the National Edition of Communities in Bloom received another 5-Bloom rating on Saturday.
The City of Vaughan, Ontario hosted the 15th Edition of the competitions, National Awards Ceremony, honouring municipalities from Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland and Japan.
Fort St. John also recevied special mention for Healthy Living Recreational Facilities but, Kamloops was the only national award winner this year, from BC, in the 55,001 to 150,000 population category.
The winner in the Fort St. John category was King, Ontario…one of three winning communties from that province.
However, with four, Alberta was the province with the most national winners, including Edmonton, in the largest population category of over 300,000.
Also in the Edmonton area, Strathcona County, in the so-called Large category and Goderich, Ontario, in the Small category, were the respective winners in the International Challenge, which is a competition of previous winners of national programs.
