Minor hockey weekend results

A brief look at some results from some of Fort St. John’s minor hockey teams over the weekend:

The Ross H MacLean PeeWee Flyers took on Peace River for a home and home affair, and dropped both games by two goals, 7-5 in Peace River and 8-6 in Fort St. John.   Ralph Jarratt, Jeff Bochon, and Ricky Bateman each had 4 points.

The Flint Bantam B Flyers had a two game series against Dawson Creek, both won by the visiting team.

Saturday afternoon’s game was at the enerplex, where Dawson Creek posted a 5-3 win.

Sunday’s rematch in Dawson Creek was a wild back-and-forth game.   Finally, with 20 seconds remaining, and the score tied at 6, Jake Gardner scored for the Flyers, giving Fort St. John a 7-6 win.

The Formula Powell Tier 3 midget Flyers beat Fairview 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.   Brock Mitchell led the way offensively with a pair of goals.   The team also did a good job staying out of the box, with goalie Craig Wozniak posting the win.

And, pretty much all of the Fort St. John Kinsmen Atom Flyers registered points, as they pummeled Peace River on Saturday afternoon, by a score of 18-3.

On Sunday, the Atoms traveled to Grande Prairie. This game was a little closer, in fact the Flyers trailed by two after 40 minutes. But, powered by 8 goals in the third period, the Atom Flyers escaped with a 12-7 win.

*** Correction  – this story originally referred to the Kinsmen Atom Flyers as "the boys."  The team does include female players, and so has been adjusted.  Our apologies for this mistake.
