PRRD-submitted agriculture resolution passed at UBCM

The UBCM will be lobbying the provincial government, in an attempt to give the agriculture industry an exemption from the Carbon Tax.

In June, Electoral Area ‘C’ Trustee, Arthur Hadland, proposed the idea to the Peace River Regional District. Directors agreed to bring the resolution to the UBCM Annual Convention.

On Thursday, Mayor Bruce Lantz says the resolution was passed.

Lantz says if it gets passed at a Provincial level, the recommendation would have a positive impact on the agriculture community in the northeast.  Lantz is attending the UBCM conference this week.

Meanwhile, a winter tire resolution was denied. The idea was to get Mandatory Winter Tires installed on vehicles for the winter months. There is currently no requirement to have winter or All Season tires on your vehicle.

More resolutions will be discussed on Friday.
