Trackers explode on home ice

The NEBC and Yukon Trackers finished off their first homestand in style, posting their third win in as many days on Sunday morning.

After beating the Panthers in a shootout on Saturday night, the Tracker-Flyers rolled to 6-1 win over Northeast in Sunday’s matinee, giving the team a .500 record, and a three-game winning streak.

Logan Daneluk and Connor Fynn both scored a pair of goals for NEBC, while Tyler Akeroyd and Colton Gies added singles.

David Readman posted Sunday’s win in goal, after he had recorded a shutout win over Fort McMurray on Friday night.

Tracker-Flyers assistant coach Jon Kocis says the team hasn’t changed anything since losing three times on opening weekend in Calgary.  Kocis says the system is the same, but now the players have had time to buy in. The Trackers continue to rotate goalies David Readman and Ryley Carter, and plan to continue that rotation indefinitely.

It’s been a tough schedule for the Midgets. NEBC opened the season three weeks ago in Calgary.  They faced a three week layoff before their first homestand, and now play only one game (in Peace River Oct. 30) next weekend, followed by another two week layoff before returning home again.  [asset|aid=2017|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=a02b48a0a32381fcb7cf0358104a1f39-Kocis-schedule_1_Pub.mp3]
